Mary Ann Gaydos, 90, of Hershey, died Saturday, June 11, 2022, at Columbia Cottage, Palmyra.
Born in Ashley, she was the daughter of the late Michael and Mary Rusnak Gaydos. Mary Ann graduated from Misericordia University with a Bachelor of Science degree in home economics. She taught high schools in Penns Grove, N.J.; Hempstead, Long Island, N.Y.; and Hanover Twp. She received a master's degree and PhD in clothing and textiles from Penn State University and taught clothing and textiles at Mansfield University of Pennsylvania for 25 years. Mary Ann is a former member of several professional organizations and was a member of St. Joan of Arc Church. She had many interests including the Hershey Symphony, Hershey Theatre and dining at several Hershey restaurants. She especially looked forward to the Rusnak reunions at Harveys Lake. Mary Ann is survived by her sisters, Joan Czarnecki, and Tina (Thomas) Lewandowski; nieces, Mary T, Peggy, Mary Jo, Monica and Meghan, and Beth, Debbie and Janet as well as nephews, Lee, Tom, Greg and Gary and Dennis, and their families. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sister, Helen and her husband, Leo; brother, Larry; brother-in-law, Jack Czarneck; nephew, Jerry Wojnar; and great-nephews, Andrew Donnald and Ryan Miskell. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. Thursday in St. Joan of Arc Church, 359 W. Areba Ave., Hershey. The family will begin receiving guests at 10:30 a.m. Private interment will take place in St. Mary's Cemetery in Wilkes-Barre. The family prefers in lieu of flowers, donations be made in Mary Ann's name to either: Sisters of Ss. Cyril and Methodius, 1002 Railroad St., Danville, PA 17821, www.sscm.org; or Slovak Heritage Society of NEPA, P.O. Box 5004, Station "A," Wilkes-Barre, PA 18710-5004, www.shsnepa.org.
