![]() Phillip George Tomko, 81 of Hershey, passed away peacefully on April 28, 2020, from natural causes, surrounded by his loving family. Phillip was born October 27, 1938 in St. Clair, PA. Phillip was the son of the late George and Rose Tomko (Matta). He was married to the late Mary Frances Tomko (Romeo) and is survived by his three children: Craig (Emily) of Elizabethtown, Lisa Janssen (David) of Hershey, and Eric (Melissa) of Hershey. He was a loving Pop-Pop to Mallory, Grayson, Luke, Jacob, Noah, Carolina, and Eva. Phillip is predeceased by a sister Elizabeth Geiger. After graduating from St Clair High School, Phillip became a United States Marine when he completed training at Parris Island, SC. He then was an active member of the Marine Corps Reserves. He attended Williamsport Technical School and received a Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Phillip and Mary Frances moved to Hershey in 1968 when Phillip took a position with the Hershey Electric Company. He later worked for and retired from the PP&L Company. Phillip was a devout parishioner of St. Joan of Arc Church in Hershey where he attended mass daily, volunteered in several capacities, and participated as a member of the SJA Knights of Columbus Council. He was also an active member of the Marine Corps League, Det. #784 in Hummelstown. His hobbies included renovating real estate properties and keeping up on the latest news. His greatest happiness in life was being married to Mary Frances and spending time with his children, grandchildren, and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events, watching Penn State Football, Harrisburg Senators games, and family dinners. Phillip had a kind, gentle spirit and was always ready to help anyone in need. He will be greatly missed. He will be laid to rest at the Hershey Cemetery in a private, family ceremony. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to the American Cancer Society.
