Robert D. McRedmond, 77, of Hummelstown, PA, beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend passed quietly on Saturday, March 16, 2019, in the care of Masonic Village Hospice after a short battle with cancer.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, on February 22, 1942, he was the son of the late James and Mary Cronin McRedmond. Bob retired as the previous co-owner of Handyman Matters, Hummelstown; was Past President of Advanced Supplies, Middletown; a manager for the Olivetti Corporation; and worked at the New York Stock Exchange. He was a 1960 graduate of Brooklyn Preparatory High School and attended Brooklyn College both of New York City. Bob was a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was a member of St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church. Bob served as Judge of Elections in Derry Township; was former Vice President and Webmaster for the Hummelstown Business & Professional Association; and member of the Hershey Partnership and Harrisburg Regional Chamber of Commerce. He was Past President of the Advisory Board for the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. Bob was also a volunteer at the Medical Center for 7 years with 2,800 hours of service. He was a member of the Harrisburg-Snyder Lodge #629, F&AM, where he held several Officer positions; and a member of Perserverance Lodge #21, F&AM, The Ancient Accepted Scottish Rite, Valley of Harrisburg, as well as several bodies in the York Rite. He loved to read, and especially to spend time with his grandchildren. He is survived by his beloved wife of 50 years, RoseAnn DiFede McRedmond, whom he married on May 19, 1968; two sons, Joseph P. McRedmond husband of Allison of Oella, MD, and Michael T. McRedmond of Middletown; one daughter, Erin M. Woods wife of Bill of Harrisburg; four grandchildren, Liam, Charlie, Ben and Lillian; one sister Helen Butler of Orem, UT; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by a sister, Jean Barrera, and two brothers, Frank McRedmond and James McRedmond. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, March 25, 2019, at 11:00 AM in St. Joan of Arc Roman Catholic Church, 359 West Areba Avenue, Hershey, with The Rev. Fr. Kenneth C. Roth as celebrant. Interment with military honors will be held in the Hershey Cemetery. Friends are invited to the viewings on Sunday, March 24, 2019, from 6 to 7:45 PM in the Trefz & Bowser Funeral Home, Inc, 114 West Main Street, Hummelstown, and in the church on Monday from 10 to 10:45 AM. Prayers will be recited Sunday in the funeral at 5:45 PM. The Masonic funeral service will also be held Sunday at 7:45 PM in the funeral home. The family has requested that memorial contributions be sent to Masonic Village Hospice, 1 Masonic Way, Elizabethtown, PA 17022. Online condolences may be shared at www.trefzandbowser.com.
