William E. O'Brien, 80, of Hershey, passed away on July 1, 2017 in the Masonic Healthcare Center in Elizabethtown.
Born December 25, 1936 in Oceola Mills, PA, he was the son of the late Raymond and Lois O'Brien. Mr. O'Brien was a U.S. Navy veteran of the Korean War. William received his B.S. in Pharmacy from Duquesne and his Masters from Ohio State. He retired from the Hershey Medical Center after 30 years, as the Director of Pharmacy and Facilities Management. Memberships include: St. Joan of Arc Church in Hershey; Ecumenical Minister; Parish Council; Hershey Rotary Club; was a "Cuddler" in the Neo Natal Unit at the Hershey Medical Center; and after retirement, served on the Institutional Review Board at the Hershey Medical Center. William is survived by; wife, Eloise J. O'Brien; 3 daughters, Kathleen R. (Jonathan) Meyer of Lebanon; Elizabeth A. (Forest) Susemiehl of Milwaukie, OR; Jennifer L. (William) Horrocks of Media, PA; 1 son, William T. (Michelle) O.Brien of Hershey; 7 grandchildren, Kelsey & Emma O'Brien; Will & Nicole Horrocks; MacCauley Meyer; Chelsea & Etta Susemiehl; 3 brothers, Raymond V. O'Brien of Phillipsburg, PA; James P. O'Brien of Altoona, PA; John L. O'Brien of Palmyra, PA. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Mary Jean Herr. A visitation will be held Wednesday, July 5, 2017, from 10AM - 11AM, in the Hoover Funeral Homes & Crematory, Route 422 & Lucy Ave., Hershey; followed by Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11:30 AM in St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 359 West Areba Ave., Hershey. Interment will be in the Hershey Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorial contributions be made to: Heart of the Parish Fund, c/o St. Joan of Arc Church 359 W.
